COVID Vaccine Update - 2/9/2021

This is the most current, up-to-date information we have regarding the COVID vaccine and distribution phase/timeline.  The information below is provided by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment and is the most current information we have available to us.

As previously mentioned, the State has full control of vaccine distribution and unfortunately contracted with very few vaccine providers.  We are dependent on their individual workflow and supply, which has been proven to be very inconsistent and unorganized.  You'll find that some vaccine providers may begin vaccinating a distribution phase before another may, so we strongly recommend that you sign up with any and all vaccine providers to better your chances of selection.  We have been told that once signed up, it is then a lottery system based on your individual phase criteria.

Can Pinon Family Practice provide the COVID vaccine?   No.  Not at this time.  Although, we have submitted all of the necessary paperwork for approval to provide the COVID vaccine to our patient population potentially for phases 2 & 3 and are waiting for a response.  There is no guarantee that the State will approve any physician offices at this point, but we've at least proven our ability and capacity to vaccinate our community so we're very hopeful!  Per the State guidelines today, this would not be effective until the Spring 2021 and dependent on vaccine supply.  When and/or if the time comes, we will reach out to you beginning with our highest risk patient population and following the CDC and CDPHE guidelines.  Please continue to check our website for updates.

Vaccine Providers for people 65 and older

Many hospital systems in Colorado are now working to schedule vaccine appointments with Coloradans age 65 and over, who are eligible to get vaccinated as part of phase 1B -- and many more are working to come online. In some cases, hospitals will reach out to their patients. In other cases, patients of these hospitals may sign up to be contacted about scheduling a vaccination. The rate at which hospitals are able to vaccinate Coloradans age 65+ depends on the federal supply of vaccine. Because we are trying to move as fast as we can, we will provide information as soon as it’s publicly available, and we ask that you be aware that it will evolve, change, and grow over time. The following list details how patients of these providers can sign up to be notified when a vaccine becomes available.

Jefferson County vaccine providers

 Safeway Pharmacy

Some local public health agencies are working with their local Safeway pharmacies to help vaccinate those in phase 1A who have not yet received the vaccine.

Once more vaccine supply is available, all Safeway locations in the state will be organizing vaccination clinics for groups in Phase 1B. When available, information about these clinics will be marketed in-store and through Safeway’s social media channels. People can sign up to receive general updates about the COVID-19 vaccine or check vaccine availability and schedule an appointment.

 Centura Health

If you are a Centura Health patient, you will receive an invitation when it is your time to receive the vaccine through MyCenturaHealth, our patient portal. These invitations will be sent based on the state’s phased prioritization, starting with patients age 70 and over. This process will be randomized and equitable without discrimination based on race, color or ability to pay.

Use this vaccine notification sign-up form to sign up to receive additional information and instructions about the vaccine through email and/or text message. Once you complete the form, you may not receive correspondence immediately. However, Centura may provide updates and scheduling instructions if the vaccine becomes available to you. You are not required to complete the form to receive the vaccine.

If you are unable to use the vaccine notification sign up form, please call 866-414-1562.

Kaiser Permanente

Kaiser members and non-members 65+ (and others in eligible 1A and 1B categories) can visit Kaiser Permanente’s vaccine webpage to complete the “COVID-19 vaccine sign up.” Upon providing your information to them, you will be placed on a first-come, first-served wait list for the vaccine based on your eligibility.

If you are interested in receiving the COVID-19 vaccine, please let us know by filling out the COVID-19 Vaccine Sign-up e-visit.

Once you've signed up for the wait list and have a Kaiser Permanente Medical record number, you can call 1-844-951-1932 to hear your position in the virtual line after 48 hours.  If you are not a Kaiser Permanente member, we will send you a medical record number after you’ve completed the non-member sign-up. You will need to enter this number to hear your position in the virtual line.

When you are eligible to receive the vaccine, we will contact you with instructions on how to schedule an appointment.

 SCL Health

SCL Health is currently contacting patients age 70 and older who are currently receiving care at a SCL Health facility. Information is being emailed to these patients guiding them to use the MyChart online patient portal to make a vaccination appointment. These invitations are being sent in a phased fashion based on the state tiering system.

Individuals interested in receiving the vaccine should consider creating an SCL Health MyChart account for the fastest, easiest experience. Visit MyChart.SCLHealth.org to create an account and schedule an appointment if you are eligible and one is available or download the SCL Health MyChart app.

An appointment is REQUIRED to receive the COVID-19 vaccine at a SCL Health facility -- walk-up vaccinations ARE NOT available. If you are 70 and older and would like more information about registering for COVID-19 vaccination at a SCL Health facility, log on to SCL Health’s website or call 303-812-2051 for details.
