What you need to know about coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19)

The team at Pinon Family Practice has been in close contact with and will continue to be with the Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment “CDPHE” and Centers for Disease Control “CDC” . We are monitoring the spread of COVID-19 daily and to date, Colorado does not have any confirmed cases.

Pinon Family Practice does have infection prevention and control policies and follows CDC guidelines and recommendations. We monitor the recommendations daily and will modify our internal infection control policies as needed. PLEASE check our website for weekly updates!

Pinon Family Practice cannot test for COVID-19. Tests are being handled by the State laboratory and only on an Emergency basis. Patients must meet very specific criteria including having been in close contact with a person who has a confirmed case and/or has traveled to parts of the world where infection rates are high or community spread is occurring, within 14 days of when symptoms began.

While many of the COVID-19 symptoms mirror those of a common cold and/or influenza, it is important to know if you answer YES to the above questions. If you do not answer YES, we will treat your symptoms as per usual. Rest assured, our staff is screening all patients at the time of scheduling and our clinical team will contact CDPHE first if a qualifying case presents. Most likely, that patient will not bee seen by the providers of Pinon Family Practice and will be sent directly to the State lab for testing.

How can you stop the spread of the disease if it presents in Colorado?

  1. Avoid close contact with people who are sick

  2. Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands

  3. Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Use an alcohol based hand sanitize that contains at lease 60% alcohol is soap and water are not available.

If you are sick, PLEASE STAY HOME, cover your sneezes with a tissue and clean and disinfect frequently touched objects. Please DO NOT go and purchase protective gear such as masks and goggles. There is a shortage of supplies and are necessary for healthcare professionals and patients in contact with confirmed cases only
